Rules and Regulation

Player Responsibilities:

The Player shall:
(a) maintain discipline, image, and the reputation of JHBA and the State ofJohor at all times;
(b) comply with all instructions, rules, circulars, and policies issued by JHBA and the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM);
(c) observe discipline by adhering to the rules of the Training Programme and instructions of the coach;
(d) inform the coach or JHBA management in advance if unable to attend any training session;

(e) be punctual and present at the training or selection venue at least thirty(30) minutes before the commencement of training sessions or competitions;

(f) give full commitment at all times;
(g) assist and cooperate with fellow players;
(h) respect the appointed coach and other players;
(i) wear appropriate and neat sports attire during training and competitions;
(j) wear complete attire, including long pants and shoes, when attending podium ceremonies;
(k) take care of facilities and equipment provided

(l) maintain cleanliness of the training venue

(m) obtain prior permission from the coach or JHBA officers before engaging in any activities or movements outside the scheduled programme or official instructions.

Players must remind their Parents/Guardians/Family Members:

(a) Parents must respect all decisions made by the JHBA management. Avoid interfering with discussions and decisions made by coaches during training sessions or tournaments. All decisions are final.

(b) Parents are required to give full support to JHBA to ensure excellence in badminton.

(c) Parents may provide ideas and suggestions in a proper and harmonious manner to avoid any misunderstandings.

(d) Maintain proper conduct before, during, and after, whether inside or outside any program or tournament.

• Players who participate in programmes or activities organised by JHBA or BAM do so at their own risk, and JHBA shall not be held responsible for any loss or damage arising from illness, injury, or accidents suffered by the players.
• The Player shall report any movement outside official supervision to the team manager, coach, and relevant JHBA management during tournaments.

• Players are not permitted to go out late at night without reasonable justification during tournaments.

• During each tournament, players are not permitted to return home early with family members until the tournament has fully concluded (final stage).

• JHBA shall not be responsible for any accidents occurring before, during, or after tournaments. All medical costs incurred shall be borne fully by the Player. Each Player is covered by insurance protection during the tournament period.

• The Player shall comply with all rules and regulations prescribed by JHBA from time to time and adhere to the BWF Players’ Code of Conduct.

• The Player shall preserve and uphold the good name and reputation of the State of Johor, JHBA, as well as JHBA coaches and officials.

• JHBA may terminate this Declaration immediately in the event of a serious breach, disciplinary misconduct, or any action that brings disrepute to JHBA or the State of Johor.

SOCIAL MEDIA

1. Players, including parents, guardians, and family members, must ensure that any posts, shares, comments, or any form of content on any social media platform, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), Threads, and YouTube, are ethical, responsible, and do not affect the image, reputation, or interests of either JHBA or BAM.

2. Players, including parents, guardians, and family members, are strictly prohibited from disclosing any internal information, including training strategies, player selection, management matters, financial information, or injuries, without prior written permission from JHBA.

3. Any use of JHBA’s logo, jersey, name, or any official reference to JHBA on social media must obtain prior approval from JHBA.

4. Players, including parents, guardians, and family members, are strictly prohibited from uploading, sharing, or disseminating any content that contains:

   (a) defamation, slander, or provocation;

   (b) pornography, extremism, racism, or religious elements;

   (c) gambling, illegal activities, or disciplinary misconduct;

   (d) open criticism of JHBA, officials, coaches, sponsors, or teammates.

5. JHBA has the right to direct Players, including parents, guardians, and family members, to delete, remove, or correct any social media post that is found to violate this clause. Players, including parents, guardians, and family members, must comply with such instructions immediately and without objection.

6. Failure to comply with this clause may result in disciplinary action, including written warnings, fines, suspension, prohibition from participating in any national or international tournaments, or termination of contract, subject to the provisions of this contract and JHBA regulations.

SPONSORSHIP

1. Recognition of Sponsor

(a) The main sponsor of JHBA is PROTECH (PROTECH ABSOLUTE (M) SDN BHD).

(b) All Johor Players are REQUIRED to use the apparel and equipment provided by the sponsor during matches, training sessions, and official events.

(c) The Player acknowledges the sponsor appointed by JHBA as the official sponsor throughout his/her tenure as a Johor State Player and agrees to provide reasonable cooperation in line with the Player’s role as a state athlete.

Scope of Player’s Responsibilities

• Accept PROTECH as the official apparel sponsor and wear the sponsored clothing during competitions and training.

• Uphold and protect the good name of PROTECH on social media, during competitions, and training sessions.

• Once the PROTECH sponsorship is accepted, players are not allowed to suddenly withdraw, absent themselves, or leave any competition or training session without any reasonable reason or permission from the Coach and JHBA Management.

• Players agree to participate in sponsorship activities such as wearing official apparel, photography sessions, media recordings, or promotional programs, subject to the following conditions:

(a) reasonable prior notice;

(b) does not affect the training schedule, health, welfare, and

      performance of the player; 

(c) a reasonable number and duration of involvement.

Individual Sponsor

The Player is permitted to have individual sponsorships or commercial collaborations provided that such sponsorships do not directly conflict with JHBA’s official sponsor and that the Player makes formal application from the Association.

Clothing and Equipment

(a)  Every player MUST use PROTECH branded clothing and equipment when representing the State of Johor. Exemption is only given to players who choose not to use the racket and shoes provided by the sponsor. Please submit your reasons to JHBA if you choose not to use the provided racket and shoes.

(b)  Players are strictly prohibited from selling, peddling, or auctioning   PROTECH clothing and equipment.

(c)  Official Johor State players who apply for clothing must wear only PROTECH clothing in national and international level competitions, unless they have notified and obtained prior approval from JHBA.

(d)   Players found violating any sponsorship rules will be fined RM 3,000.00 (Ringgit Malaysia: Three Thousand Only).

Image Use & Publicity Rights

The Player grants permission to JHBA and JHBA’s official sponsor to use the Player’s image, name, and achievements for promotional purposes related solely to badminton activities and sports development, provided that such use does not affect the Player’s dignity, reputation, or personal rights.

Social Media Regarding Sponsorship

The Player is permitted to post sponsorship-related content on social media, provided that such content is positive, professional, and complies with the Association’s guidelines and the applicable sponsorship agreements.

Negotiation and Resolution

In the event of any issues or disputes relating to sponsorship, JHBA and the Player agree to resolve such matters through amicable and professional discussion before any disciplinary action is taken.

Any Player found to have failed to comply with the regulations shall be subject to disciplinary action, and JHBA reserves the right to drop the Player from representing the State of Johor at subsequent levels.

Participation in Tournaments Not Organized by BWF, BAM, or State Associations (Sanctioned & Non-Sanctioned)

1. Players who hold a BAM ID are only permitted to participate in any tournaments that have received SANCTION, whether from BWF, BAM, or the respective State Associations.

2. Players / coaches / parents must obtain confirmation of SANCTION from the organiser or event manager before participating in a tournament.

3. SANCTION regulations are in accordance with the rules of BAM and BWF.

4. Any player found to be in violation will be subject to disciplinary action by JHBA.

Disciplinary Action

(a) Any form of gambling, betting, match fixing, or manipulation of match results;
(b) Corrupt practices, misconduct, fighting, drug abuse, or immoral behaviour;
(c) Any act that violates the laws of Malaysia or the regulations of sports governing bodies.

Any damage / negligence / loss caused by the player during training or tournaments shall be the responsibility of the player.

In the event that the Player breaches this clause, JHBA reserves the right to:
(a) Suspend or terminate this Declaration immediately without notice;
(b) Withdraw all forms of sponsorship, allowances, or facilities;
(c) Take disciplinary action in accordance with the Constitution, rules, and code of ethics of JHBA and BAM.

AMMENDMENTS

JHBA reserves the right to make amendments to the player regulations depending on prevailing circumstances.
